I discovered Dana K White and her A Slob Comes Clean podcast and blog at a time when I was overwhelmed with clutter and mess that was limiting my ability to be the welcoming person I wanted to be.
How could I have a book club in my home if I was too embarrassed to let anyone see past my front door?
Dana K White (through her podcast and books) had me cracking up AND changing the way I cleaned. I still have a long way to go, but I am making great progress.
So much progress that I put her on my dream list of authors I wanted to have on The Book Club Life for my new “how-to” category. (I mean, if you want to host a book club, it would be nice to know how to get your house ready for company!)
And she said yes!!!
I had a ton of fun interviewing her, and I think you’ll enjoy it, too. (Scroll down to watch.)
TOPICS WE COVER IN THE INTERVIEW
- Steps to get your home from embarrassment to enjoyment
- Cleaning pitfalls (with personal examples)
- Last minute tips for the day of book club (or any gathering)
AND SOME JUST FOR FUN TOPICS:
- How she knew her husband was the one for her
- Her favorite books (both adult fiction and children’s)
- AND MORE!
INTERVIEW WITH DANA K WHITE
I hope you enjoyed Dana as much as I did! And I hope you came away with some tips and tricks for cleaning and hosting friends in your home. (I’ve hosted one book club since recording this interview, and you better believe I checked the other side of the bathroom door!)
If you’d like more help in this area, check out Dana K White’s books, How to Manage Your Home without Losing Your Mind and Decluttering at the Speed of Life. Both are fantastic! (These are both affiliate links. Thanks for your support!)
From My Life…
May has been crazy for me. Mother’s Day, end-of-year awards, amazing interviews to release, summer plans, last minute to-do’s. I’ve been a mix of running hard to finish strong and pulling over to the side for rests and beauty breaks. I’m looking out my window at my pretty backyard flowers and listening to bird song as I write this. : ) Such beauty.
My mornings are my strength because I spend them with the Lord, reading my Bible and praying. I was struck by the end of Luke 3 recently. John the Baptist was going strong for the Lord, and then all of a sudden he was in jail. Life can be like that sometimes. You never know what’s coming. But God was with John in that cell. And He’s with me. With you too, if you’re a Christian. That is such a comfort. If you don’t know the Lord and are interested in getting to know Him, you may enjoy this blog post I wrote a long time ago.
One Last Note
I hope you and yours are doing well. This time of year can sometimes be bittersweet as we mark the changing seasons of life. May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may you find comfort and joy in His Word and Presence. <3
Lots of love,
Jenny
