Hey Everyone! I have exciting news! After months of hard work, I have finally completed the last of 150 hours of continuous education credits to renew my teaching certificate. WOOHOO!!!! Did you know I used to teach? I don’t know if I’ll ever teach again. But, if the call comes, I’ll be ready.
With that completed, I can write again!!! : ) : ) : )
To celebrate, I’d like to give away a novel by one of my favorite suspense writers:
Violet Dawn by Brandilyn Collins
Back Cover Copy:
“Something sinuous brushed against Paige’s knee. She jerked her leg away.
What was that? She rose to a sitting position, groped around with her left hand.
Fine wisps wound themselves around her fingers.
Hair?
She yanked backward, but the tendrils clung. Something solid bumped her wrist. Paige gasped. With one frantic motion she shook her arm free, grabbed the side of the hot tub, and heaved herself out.”
“Paige Williams slips into her hot tub in the blackness of night—and finds herself face to face with death.
Alone, terrified, fleeing a dark past, Paige must make an unthinkable choice.
In Violet Dawn, hurtling events and richly drawn characters collide in a breathless story of murder, revenge and the need to belong. One woman’s secrets unleash an entire town’s pursuit, and the truth proves as elusive as the killer in their midst.”
Oooh! Creepy! And suspenseful! In the best of ways.
Can I tell you how I first found Brandilyn?
After a stretch of stressful days last summer, I found myself mentally and emotionally exhausted. Scrolling Facebook, I came across a post by Robin Lee Hatcher. She posted about a plotting retreat where she and her author friends go each year to pray, play, and plot novels. They looked like they were having so much fun! You could tell they loved each other and that they’d been true friends for a long time. I scanned their photos and watched their videos. I smiled. And cried. Then, I came across a picture that made me laugh. One of the authors, a suspense writer, pretended to choke Robin with a scarf. I chuckled. Who was this lady?
My husband, being the gem he is, saw I was overwhelmed and gave me a Saturday off from everything. Of course I went straight to the library. I found a whole section of books by Brandilyn Collins and added a few to my stack.
After getting comfy, I opened Violet Dawn.
I read all day. The story was awesome!!! I felt rejuvenated. And, I felt a fresh appreciation for the fact that no one was attempting to murder me. 😉
Since then, I’ve been working my way through all of Brandilyn’s novels, and I’ve loved every one. I hope you get to enjoy a Brandilyn Collins novel, too! 🙂
